Apple Releases tvOS 17.2 to the Public – Brings Revamped Apple TV App

Apple Releases tvOS 17.2 to the Public – Brings Revamped Apple TV App

Apple on Monday released tvOS 17.2, its second major update to the latest Apple TV operating system.

The ‌tvOS 17.2 update can be downloaded via the Settings app on the ‌‌Apple TV‌‌ by going to “System” -> “Software Update.” If you have automatic software updates turned on your Apple TV will be upgraded to ‌‌tvOS 17.2 automatically.

tvOS 17.2 includes several new features, including a revamped TV app. The app features a sidebar with content from Apple services and streaming services that integrate with the Watch Now tvOS feature.

The simplified interface’s new sidebar allows users to quickly navigate the app, providing easy access to Apple TV+, MLS Season Pass, the Store, where users can buy and rent popular movies, and shortcuts to channels and apps viewers already have, such as Disney+, Paramount+, and Max.

Clicking into each streaming service provides details on what’s available on that service, and there is also an updated “My TV” section that replaces the prior “My Channels” section.

Viewers can no longer purchase TV shows and movies from the standalone iTunes TV Shows and iTunes Movies apps. Customers must now go to the Apple TV app to make a purchase.
