No More Downgrading: Apple Stops Signing iOS 17.1.1 and iOS 17.1.2

Apple released iOS 17.2 on December 11 and also launched iOS 17.2.1 on Tuesday, and as is traditional, has now stopped signing iOS 17.1.1 and iOS 17.1.2, making downgrading to those versions of iOS no longer possible.

The iOS 17.2.1 software can be downloaded on compatible devices over the air by going to “Settings” -> “General” -> “Software Update.”

iOS 17.2.1 is the latest version of iOS 17 that is available to the public. It brought “bug fixes.” The iOS 17.2 update that preceded it brought the Journal app, updates to Messages and Apple Music, spatial video recording on the iPhone 15 Pro models, and more.

Falling back to an older iOS build is often used by users who jailbreak their iPhones. Restoring an iPhone or iPad to a previous version of iOS can also sometimes be helpful for users who experience significant bugs after upgrading to the latest version of iOS.
