You Can Upgrade Your AirPods Pro 2 Case to USB-C for $99

Apple on Wednesday began selling a MagSafe USB-C AirPods Pro 2 Case as a replacement for your Lightning case. The USB-C ‌AirPods Pro‌ 2 Case is now available for $99 from Apple’s online store. (First noticed by The Verge.)

The MagSafe Charging Case (USB‑C) for AirPods Pro (2nd generation) includes the U1 chip with Precision Finding to help you quickly identify the location of your case. And if you’re nearby but can’t find it, you can play a sound from the built-in speaker. A lanyard loop lets you attach your case to a backpack or handbag, so it’s always within reach. And the MagSafe Charging Case is built to brave the elements, with IP54 dust, sweat, and water resistance.

Charge the MagSafe Charging Case with an Apple Watch or MagSafe charger. You can also use a USB‑C connector or Qi-certified charger.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to give these to your favorite AirPods Pro 2 user as a holiday gift, as orders placed today for the USB-C charging case will be delivered to customers sometime between December 27 and January 2, so maybe give it as a New Year’s gift?

Apple debuted a USB-C version of the ‌AirPods Pro‌ 2 Charging Case in September, but at the time, the Cupertino firm did not offer an option to buy a USB-C case on its own, meaning customers that already had a Lightning-based ‌AirPods Pro‌ 2 charging case had no upgrade path.

The USB-C Charging Case is compatible with the second-generation ‌AirPods Pro‌. It also offers ‌MagSafe‌ charging as well. The USB-C Charging Case also provides improved IP54 dust resistance.
