Apple Once Again Tweaks iPhone 16 Pro Action Button on Prototype

New iPhone 16 Pro prototypes shared by MacRumors show a newly tweaked Action button that resembles the Action button found on the current iPhone 15 Pro. Apple has reportedly been tinkering with the Action button’s size and design on the iPhone 16 Pro but it appears the Cupertino device make has decided to go with the tried and true.

Apple has tested four button configurations and two sizes for the iPhone 16 Pro Action button at different development stages:

  • Unified volume button with small Action button
  • Unified volume button with large Action button and new Capture button
  • Separate volume buttons with large Action button and Capture button flush with frame
  • Separate volume buttons with small Action button and Capture button flush with frame (current)

With the latest prototype, Apple has returned to an Action button that resembles the Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro, forsaking the larger, flush look.

As usual for reports like this, things will likely change (maybe several times) before the fall release of this year’s iPhone 16 Pro lineup, so stay tuned.
