Production has resumed on the Apple TV+ hit sci-fi workplace drama “Severance,” as cast and crew are back on set and filming the show’s second season.
Production on the award-winning series halted back in May 2023, due to strikes by the writers union and SAG-AFTRA. The strikes have caused an eight-month delay, but the series is finally back in production.
The announcement, spotted by The Independent, was made on Monday by series creator Ben Stiller on X.

In “Severance,” Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself.
The series was renewed for a second season in April 2022.
Ben Stiller is back as director and executive producer. The cast returns with Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Tramell Tillman, Michael Chernus, and Christopher Walken.
There are eight new stars for season two — Bob Balaban, Robby Benson, Stefano Carannante, Gwendoline Christie, John Noble, Olafur Darri Olafsson, Alia Shawkat, and Merritt Wever.
The show received 14 Emmy Award nominations in 2022, with two awards won for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series and Outstanding Main Title Design.
Sci-fi dystopian drama series “Silo” has also reportedly returned to production.
