New Rumor Claims iPhone 16 Pro Max to Boast Larger, More Advanced Main Camera Sensor

A new Weibo rumor claims Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max will be equipped with a larger, more advanced main camera sensor for improved photography and videography capabilities.

The claim comes from “Digital Chat Station,” a Weibo user who is known for providing a range of details about the camera technology of upcoming iPhones. The post claims the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ Max will be an “image flagship,” indicating that Apple’s promotion of the device will focus on its new camera capabilities.

As shared by MacRumors, the rumors iPhone 16 Pro Max’s main camera will boast a customized 48-megapixel Sony IMX903 sensor with advanced features like a stacked design for better performance, a 14-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) for high-quality image data conversion, and Digital Gain Control (DCG) for better dynamic range and noise control.

Digital Chat Station also repeated a previous claim that the iPhone 16‌ Pro Max will feature a 12% larger camera sensor, 1/1.14 inches in size. A larger sensor generally improves a camera’s dynamic range and background blur, while also substantially enhancing low-light photography capabilities.

The leaker also mentioned that the upcoming high-end iPhones will feature a slightly more curved screen design.
