Shazam Can Now Identify Songs Playing in Other Apps When Using Headphones

Apple’s Shazam app has been updated, and the update brings a new feature that identifies songs from other apps while you’re listening using headphones.

While Shazam could identify songs in other apps for quite a while now, the feature would not work when you had earphones connected to your iPhone. The latest update to the app, version 17.3, removes that limitation.

The connected headphones can be either wired or Bluetooth, and they don’t have to be Apple-made earphones, so third-party headphones can also be used.

To use the feature, open the Shazam app, check for the headphone icon to confirm your headphones are connected, and then you’ll be able to start recognizing music playing around you or inside of apps like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.

Shazam is available in the App Store for free.
