Apple is developing a new version of its Beats Solo on-ear headphones, according to code located in the iOS 17.4 release candidate that Apple released on Tuesday.

MacRumors reports that its contributor Aaron Perris took a close look at the code in iOS 17.4 and found several references to the Beats Solo 4 headphones, including images.

The images show that the new Beats Solo 4 headphones look similar to the current Solo 3 headphones, but have had their design tweaked to resemble the Beats Studio Pro. The new headphones do support Spatial Audio according to the code, but no other new features are mentioned.

In the files, three colors were found, including black, pink, and blue.

The new headphones will likely offer some of the features brought to the Beats Studio Pro last year, such as improved sound quality and support for Personalized Spatial Audio. Studio Pro gestures will also be supported, such as a press of the “b” button to play/pause and answer calls, a double press to skip songs, and a long press to activate Siri. The Beats Solo 4 will also likely receive a USB-C port to replace the old-fashioned micro-USB port used on current models.
