Apple’s tvOS 18.2.1 Update Brings Data Syncing Fix

Apple today released a minor software update for the Apple TV. tvOS 18.2.1 brings a fix for a data syncing bug.

The ‌tvOS 18.2.1 update can be downloaded via the Settings app on the ‌‌Apple TV‌‌ by going to “System” -> “Software Update.” If you have automatic software updates turned on your Apple TV will be upgraded to ‌‌tvOS 18.2 automatically.

According to Apple’s release notes, the tvOS 18.2.1 update (which has a build number of 22K160) “addresses an issue where data may not sync correctly across devices.”

The release closely follows the release of tvOS 18.2, which brought natural language search support for Siri to help users find movies, music, and TV shows. More importantly for some users, the update brings a selection of Snoopy screen savers that are available as an alternative to the aerial, memory, and portrait screen saver options.

The update also includes a new option that lets the Apple TV automatically detect the best aspect ratio for a television or projector. Aspect ratio options include 16:9, 21:9, 2.37:1, 2.39:1, 2.40:1, DCI 4K, and 32:9.

Apple’s next update, tvOS 18.3, is currently being beta tested by developers and will likely see a late January release to the public.
