Apple Opens New Store in Western Australia, Located Inside Historic Bank Building

Apple on Friday opened a new “flagship” Australian Apple retail store at Forrest Place, a pedestrian-focused shopping area in the heart of Perth, the largest city in Western Australia.

The new Apple retail location store will be located in a historic building originally built for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, at the corner of Forrest Place and Murray Street. Apple is taking over a space that was previously occupied by City Beach, an Australian swimwear retailer.

“Our team meticulously restored and mended heritage fabric throughout the building, including the marble tiling, ceilings, and plaster columns, to create a truly unique space for customers to shop,” said Apple’s retail chief Deirdre O’Brien, in an interview with Perth’s local newspaper The West Australian.

Apple closed its previous central Perth location on nearby Hay Street, which opened in 2010. The old location closed on Wednesday,  and the larger new Forrest Place store held its grand opening on Friday, June 27 at 9 a.m. local time.

In a first for an Australian Apple retail store, the new location has an Apple Pickup station for collecting online orders.

In celebration of the new store, Apple has shared a special floral-themed wallpaper. It is available to download on the store page for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Apple is also spotlighting content from Western Australian-based artists and storytellers in the Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Books apps.
