Apple Updates Codebase to Include Unreleased Audio Product

Apple has updated its codebase to include a numerical reference to an unreleased audio product. While the product is not specifically identified in the codebase, between the codebase entry’s location and recent rumors, it indicates Apple will soon release its much-expected AirPods Pro 3.

Apple assigns specific Bluetooth ID numbers to its AirPods and Beats headphones, such as 0x2024 (8228) for the AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C. The recently updated code is related to device syncing, and that code included a list of all current audio devices, plus one extra Bluetooth ID (8239).

8239 is not used by Apple for any of its existing AirPods or Beats headphones. While it makes sense that the number correspond to the upcoming AirPods earbuds, Apple could also be working on new Beats headphones of some kind.

Several rumors have suggest that Apple is working on the ‌AirPods Pro 3‌, for a launch later this year. The ‌AirPods Pro 3‌ could boast a refreshed design, improved audio quality and ANC, and possibly health related features.
