Gearbox, 2K, and Take-Two Interactive are celebrating the impending release of Borderlands 4, the latest installment in the long-running Borderlands franchise, by making Borderlands 2 free for Mac and PC users. But, it’s only available this weekend
You’ll need to have a Steam account, which is free if you don’t already have one. Login to the Steam app or website and download the game before June 8 at 1:00 p.m. ET. The game usually goes for $20.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Borderlands 2 is a popular first-person loot shooter. While the game was released in 2012, back in the days of Intel-powered Macs, the game still plays fine on Apple Silicon-powered Macs, via Rosetta 2.
Borderlands 4 is scheduled for a September 2025 release.
