iOS 26 Brings Support for Transferring eSIMs to and From Android Devices

iOS 26 Brings Support for Transferring eSIMs to and From Android Devices

In iOS 26, Apple has added support for transferring eSIMs to and from Android devices, reports MacRumors. The new feature will make it easier for smartphone owners to move their phone numbers between the two smartphone platforms, eliminating the need to contact a carrier’s customer support folks for assistance in transfering a number between the two platforms.

Some iOS 26 testers on Reddit say they’ve noticed a “Transfer to Android” option appear in their cellular settings, although not all iOS 26 users report seeing it as yet. An iPhone users that has a US Mobile’s Dark Star eSIM saw a cellular option to transfer an eSIM to an Android device.

When adding an eSIM in iOS 26, users report seeing a “Transfer From Android” option that, when tapped on displays a QR code that can be scanned with an Android device to start the transfer process.

Apple and Google both are apparently adding the functionality to their upcoming software, as an Android 16 beta also featured a reference to a “Transfer to Android” feature.

iOS 18 allows easy transfer of an eSIM from iPhone to iPhone, altough it’s much more difficult to transfer an eSIM from an iPhone to an Android device. The process usually requires contacting a carrier to get a QR code.

It should be noted that not every feature in iOS betas make it to the final version, so we’ll wait and see.
