These Apple Watch Faces Didn’t Make the Cut in Initial watchOS 26 Beta

Several Apple Watch faces that were included in previous versions of watchOS didn’t make the cut in watchOS 26, according to a Reddit post. Redditor  says the Fire/Water, Gradient, Liquid Metal, Vapor, and Toy Story watch faces were not included in the initial watchOS 26 beta released to developers on Monday.

As disappointing as it may be to fans of these particular watch faces, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as Apple tradiitonally removes some watch face options when it releases a new version of watchOS. Apple doesn’t explain why it drops watch faces, although it could be that they weren’t popular among Apple Watch users and were dropped because they were used less often. In the case of the Toy Story watch faces, it could be that their licensing deal with Disney ended.

While Apple did not unveil any new watch faces in watchOS 26, some of the existing faces have been revamped using Liquid Glass, which is a new translucent material that reflects and refracts its surroundings, bringing greater focus to content. It should be noted that we may see new watch faces be added during the watchOS 26 beta testing cycle, or we could even see some of the removed watch faces make a return.
