Are you curious if your older iPhone will be able to run iOS 26? Well, a private account on X with a good track record when it comes to iOS-related info says you’ll be okay as long as you have an iPhone 11 or newer.
If the rumor is correct, iPhone users with an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR will be stuck with iOS 18 the rest of the time they own the device. However, they will still be able to update security updates, even after iOS 26 hits devices.
The rumor indicates that iOS 26 will be compatible with the following iPhone models:
As you might expect, iOS 26 will also be compatible with this fall’s iPhone 17 lineup.
Keep in mind that while sme of the older iPhone models on the list will be compatible with iOS 26, some features will not be available on those models. As we’ve previously reported, Apple Intelligence, such as it is, requires an iPhone 15 Pro or newer.
Apple will unveil iOS 26 during Monday’s WWDC25 keynote, and the first developer beta of the new operating system should be made available following the keynote. A public beta will be seeded a bit later, and the general public will be able to get their hot little hands on it in September.
