Apple Puts Work on Foldable iPad on Hold

Apple has decided to pause work on a larger-screened foldable iPad, reports Digitimes. The publication says Apple is holding off on the foldable tablet due to increased production expenses and other factors.

A foldable iPad has long been rumored, with several rumors indicating it will be a notebook-sized foldable device. However, Apple has apprently deciuded to pause wrok on the foldable iPad as it focuses on finalizing a foldable iPhone model.

The Digitimes report says that Apple is holding off on development of the foldable ‌iPad‌ due to manufacturing issues, increased production expenses for the device’s foldable display technology, and the lack of compelling consumer demand for larger foldable devices.

While the device may be on hold, this doesn’t mean that Apple is dropping the idea and it could revisit the idea of a foldable iPad/MacBook when foldable display technology becomes more affordable.

The foldable tablet Apple was working on was rumored to be between 18.8 inches and 20.2 inches in size, and would use OLED display technology and a crease-free design.

As for Apple’s foldable ‌iPhone‌, most observers expect the handset to launch alongside the traditional iPhone 18 Pro models next year.
