Apple today seeded the second public betas of its upcoming iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 for testing. The public betas come one day after Apple seeded developers the second developer betas of both upcoming operating system updates.
Public beta testers can download the updates by going to the Settings app, then tapping on “General” -> “Software Update” on iPhone and iPad devices after opting into the beta through Apple’s public beta testing website.
iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 are relatively minor updates, and only minor changes have been discovered. While the software updates mostly focus on bug fixes and security improvements behind the scenes, the iOS 18.6 update will bring additional changes to the App Store in the European Union.
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas or release candidates on their daily driver iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
We are nearing the end of regular updates for iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, as Apple is also beta testing iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, which will likely be released in September. Public betas of both iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 will be released sometime this month.
