Apple today released a new iPhone 16 ad highlighting the Apple intelligence Clean Up feature in the iPhone’s Photos app. The spot shows a man taking a snapshot of a woman with her cat, then removing the feline from the image using Clean Up.
With Apple Intelligence, you can now remove distracting objects from your photos with the Clean Up tool.
The woman is upset with the change in the image, telling the man that “I always knew you hated Garrett,” while the cat gives him the stink eye as only cats can. So the man undoes the edit, pleasing the woman, although Garrett till doesn’t seem to be too pleased with the man’s existence.
Clean Up is an Apple Intelligence tool in Photos that allows you to remove unwanted or distracting objects from a photo. You can simply swipe over the object, person, or animal you want removed from the photos and the Clean Up tool can make the element disappear by cloning the background and other elements of the image to make it vanish. More or less.
Apple Intelligence features like Clean Up require iOS 18.1 or later on an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or iPhone 16 models. The feature will also be available on Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup.
