Track Your Child’s Location With These Shoes and Apple’s AirTag

Skechers has begun selling a new line of “Find My Skechers” kids shoes that have a secret compartment under the shoes’ insole that allow you to insert an Apple AirTag to track your child’s location in the Find My app. (They had me at secret compartment.)

The shoes will come in handy for parents who worry about where their child is when they are out and about. This means you can track your child, even if they forget their iPhone, allowing you to make sure they are where they said they’d be, or if you’ve list them in the mall.

Skechers’ new 30 minute ad informs parents that kids are unable to feel the AirTag under their feet while wearing the shoes, making it easy to discreetly track your offspring.

While the new kicks would also prove useful if your child is kidnapped, the kidnapper would likely receive an alert on their iPhone or Android device warning them that an AirTag has been tracking them.

It should be noted that if your child doesn’t have their iPhone with them, the AirTag will be forced to rely on the child being around other people that have a device with cellular connectivity. If the child is lost in the woods by themselves, the AirTag’s location will not update.

If you or your child aren’t fans of Skechers (and why not? they’re so-o-o-o-o comfortable!) you could opt to give your child an Apple Watch to track their location.

The new shoes are available for both boys and girls in the U.S.Canada, and select other countries. Prices start at $52 USD (you’ll also need to have or buy an AirTag, as one is not included). The shoes are available in a variety of machine-washable styles.
