Sunday night, Apple TV+ scored a record-breaking 22 awards at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, with the freshman comedy series The Studio and drama series Severance picking up multiple trophies.
The Studio dominated as the most-winning series overall this year and the most-winning freshman comedy in history, setting a new record with 13 wins overall. Meanwhile, Severance tallied eight wins, making it the most-winning drama. British spy drama Slow Horses scored for Outstanding Directing for a Drama.
In addition to Outstanding Comedy Series, freshman comedy The Studio scored Outstanding Lead Actor (Seth Rogen), Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series. Previously announced wins included Outstanding Guest Actor (Bryan Cranston), Outstanding Production Design, Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Cinematography for a Series (Half-Hour), Outstanding Contemporary Costumes, Outstanding Picture Editing for a Single Camera Comedy Series, Outstanding Music Supervision, Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama (Half-Hour), and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama (Half-Hour).
Sophomore drama Severance scored eight Emmy Awards, with star Tramell Tillman nabbing his first Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor, and star Britt Lower earning her first Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama. The honors are in addition to previously announced wins at the Creative Arts Emmys for Outstanding Guest Actress Merritt Wever, Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour), Outstanding Cinematography for a Series (One Hour), Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score), Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour), and Outstanding Title Design.
Apple’s acclaimed Slow Horses lands Outstanding Directing for a Drama for its fourth season, following last year’s win for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.

The Studio is a series offering a satirical behind the scenes look at the modern Hollywood’s film industry. Seth Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the recently-named head of Continental Studios. In addition to Rogen, “The Studio” boasts a star-studded ensemble cast, including Emmy, Emmy Award nominee Kathryn Hahn, SAG and Golden Globe Award winner Catherine O’Hara, Ike Barinholtz and Chase Sui Wonders. Emmy Award-winning Bryan Cranston also makes guest appearances. The show also offered a star-studded list of cameos from Hollywood celebrities throughout the season.
In Severance, Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure that surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself. In season two, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.
This darkly funny espionage drama follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 due to their career-ending mistakes. Led by their brilliant but irascible leader, the notorious Jackson Lamb (Academy Award winner Sir Gary Oldman), they navigate the espionage world’s smoke and mirrors to defend England from sinister forces.
