Today represents the biggest upgrade to Chrome in its history, as we share how we’re using the latest in Google AI to enhance your browsing experience. We’re building Google AI into Chrome across multiple levels so it can better anticipate your needs, help you understand more complex information and make you more productive when you browse the web, all while keeping you safe.
A small Gemini symbol will reside in the upper right-hand corner of the browser, and offer options such as learn more about a page or explore a topic when clicked The Ask Gemini interface will also answer questions about open browser tabs.
Later this month, AI Mode search will become accessible directly from the Chrome address bar and will offer support for long, complex questions.
Gemini in Chrome will not only be able to work across multiple tabs, it will also integrate with Google apps, including Maps, YouTube, and Calendar.
Gemini in Chrome will also be able to remember visited websites, making it easier to search for a site that you want to make a return visit. Google is also expanding Safe Browsing to put a stop to sites using fake viruses or fake giveaways to phish for info.
Google will add agentic capabilities to Gemini in Chrome in the coming months, allowing the AI assistant to handle things like ordering groceries or booking an appointment at the style salon.
