Apple Debuts New M5-Powered 14‑inch MacBook Pro

As expected, Apple on Wednesday unveiled its new 14-inch MacBook Pro, powered by the company’s new M5 chip. Apple says the M5 provides a leap in power for the MacBook Pro, providing a “huge leap in AI performance.”

The M5 chip features a next-generation GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core, delivering up to 3.5x the AI performance and up to 1.6x faster graphics than the previous generation. The M5 also includes a faster and more efficient CPU, an enhanced Neural Engine, and higher memory bandwidth. The new chip offers battery life of up to 24 hours.

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 uses the latest storage technology to bring faster SSD performance than the previous generation for tasks like importing and exporting large multimedia files.

A Liquid Retina XDR display with a nano-texture option, a 12MP Center Stage camera, a six-speaker sound system, a wide array of ports also make an appearance.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 has the same starting price as the previous model, $1,599, and is available in space black and silver, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 is available to pre-order today, with availability beginning Wednesday, October 22.
