Apple TV+ Drops the ‘Plus’ From Its Name In Quiet Rebrand

Apple has quietly rebranded its Apple TV+ streaming service, dropping the “+” to make it simply “Apple TV.” The Cupertino firm buried the lede in an announcement about “F1: The Movie” making its streaming debut on December 12.

Apple revealed the renaming near the end of the F1 press release, saying, “‌Apple TV‌+ is now simply ‌Apple TV‌, with a vibrant new identity.” Since Apple’s website has yet to be updated to reflect any changes, we haven’t seen any additional information about the change. At the time of this article, the “https://tv.apple.com/” website still carries the “TV+” moniker at the top of the page.

All of this means that Apple TV the streaming service is available in the Apple TV app, which is available on the Apple TV set-top box, so yeah, there won’t be any confusion for new users. This could be an indication that Apple may be planning to rename its Apple TV set-top device, or it may simply enjoy chaos. Hopefully, we’ll find out what Apple is up to in the near future.
