Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup has outpaced the iPhone 16 in early sales, says a report from Counterpoint Research (shared by AppleInsider). The firm says sales have benefited from strong demand for the base model iPhone 17 in China, alongside strong demand for the iPhone 17 Pro Max in the United States.
The company has benefited from adding more value to its base models, while still coming up with enough features for its flagship high-end devices to still keep buyers interested in those models.
CR says base model iPhone 17 demand in China has been close to double that of last year’s base iPhone 16 model. In addition to improved specs for the same price, the handset has also benefited from local discounts and promotions.
Meanwhile, in the US, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is performing well in early sales numbers, with sales ramping up quickly, thanks to attractive subsidies and promotions by the big three US cellular companies, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.
