OpenAI’s Sora AI-generated video creation app has been downloaded more than one million times, says OpenAI’s Sora lead, Bill Peebles. He shared the information on social media network X last night. (First noticed by MacRumors)
Peebles noted that the Sora app reached one million app downloads even faster than ChatGPT had, despite the fact that the app is invite only and is currently only available in the U.S. and Canada at the current time.
Released at the end of September, the app is designed to generate AI videos using realistic videos of real people and their friends. Each user uploads a “cameo” or short video, which they can then use with AI prompts.
Turn your ideas into videos and drop yourself into the action.
Sora is a new kind of creative app that turns text prompts and images into hyperreal videos with sound using the latest advancements from OpenAI. A single sentence can unfold into a cinematic scene, an anime short, or remix of a friend’s video. If you can write it, you can see it, remix it, and share it. Turn your words into worlds with Sora.
Explore, play, and share your imagination in a community built for experimentation.
