Apple Fitness+ Could be Merged into New ‘Health+’ Service Next Year

Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman has shared more information about Apple’s Fitness+ workout service. Last week, Gurman said Apple Fitness+ was “under review,” and this week he is providing more information about the possible future of the service.

In Sunday’s Power On newsletter, Gurman said that Apple Fitness+ may be merged into a broader new Apple Health+ service, which is expected to launch next year, meaning Apple Fitness+ would no longer be available as a standalone subscription service.

Gurman last week said that Apple Fitness+ is one of the company’s “weakest digital offerings,” with the service suffering from high churn and little revenue. However, the service has a small but loyal fanbase, which would make it difficult for Apple to completely shut down the service without facing vocal backlash.

Gurman has previously reported the Apple Health+ service will also feature an AI-based health coach that offers nutrition planning and medical suggestions.

Apple Fitness+ first launched in 2020 as an ad-free video-on-demand guided workout streaming service. The service costs $9.99 per month on its own and is available at a discount as part of the Apple One Premier bundle.
