Mac Pro ‘Largely Written Off’ at Apple, Says Report

Any further development of Apple’s high-end Mac Pro computer is currently “on the back burner,” according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. Gurman’s comments came in Sunday’s Power On newsletter.

Gurman also said he heard that Apple has “largely written off” the Mac Pro, with Apple executives considering the Mac Studio to be the present and future of Apple’s pro desktop computing.

While Apple is developing a high-end M5 Ultra chip, the company will likely use that chip in a new Mac Studio model. Gurman says this leads him to believe that the Mac Pro “won’t be updated in 2026 in a significant way.”

Apple last updated the Mac Pro in June 2023, with the M2 Ultra chip.
