Apple TV News: Two Popular Series Return, Whie the Streamer Scores 9 Writers Guild Awards Nods

Apple TV has shared news about two of its most popular returning comedy series, while scoring nine Writers Guild Awards 2026 nominations, with four of those going to Pluribus.

Shrinking

Emmy-nominated comedy-drama series “Shrinking” has returned for a fourth season. The popular dramedy returned for a third season on Tuesday.

Series lead Jason Segel play a grieving therapist who decides to break tradition and be fully candid with his patients, which results in big changes in his life, as well as the lives of those around him, including his mentor, Dr. Paul Rhodes (the always great Harrison Ford), who has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

Other cast members include Christa Miller and Jessica Williams, and third season guest stars will include Cobie Smulders, Michael J. Fox, Jeff Daniels, Brett Goldstein, Candice Bergen, Sherry Cola and Isabella Gomez.

The first episode of “Shrinking” season three is now available for streaming, and a new episode will premiere every Tuesday at 9 p.m. Eastern Time through April 7.

Apple TV has not announced a release date for the fourth season.

Ted Lasso

One of Apple’s first hit comedy series, Ted Lasso will return for a fourth season this summer. The return of the series see many of the series’ most popular characters making a return; including star Jason Sudeikis as Ted, Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard, Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca, Juno Temple as Keeley, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, and others.

This time around, Ted Lasso will be coach of a second division women’s football team. While production of the fourth season is still ongoing, Apple has confirmed a summer 2026 release date.

Ted Lasso was one of Apple TV’s early hits, scoring several award nominations, including multiple Emmy wins.

Nearly three years after the show’s final season three episode, the series continues to be one of Apple TV’s most-watched series remaining on the streaming service’s top 10 chart.

Pluribus Writers Guild Award Nods

Apple TV has received nine 2026 Writers Guild Awards nominations, with “Pluribus,” “The Studio,” and “Severance” scoring nods.

Apple has scored 3,229 nominations, resulting in 687 wins as of January 22.

Four of the Writers Guild Awards 2026 nominations went to Pluribus.

In addition, Seth Rogen’s popular series The Studio, received three nominations, Severance scored a single nomination, and children’s show The First Snow of Fraggle Rock also received a nom.

Pluribus, which premiered late last year, has proven to be one of Apple TV’s most popular series, receiving multiple award nominations for various industry awards. Lead actress Rhea Seehorn recently took home a Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Drama.
