Leaker Claims to Know the Size of Rumored Smaller Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro

Recently, we’ve seen a good number of rumors that the Dynamic Island on the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, and now a well-known leaker claims to be revealing its true size.

Leaker “Ice Universe” today claimed on X that the Dynamic Island cutout on the iPhone 18 Pro models will be approximately 35% narrower than it is on the iPhone 17 Pro models, with a width of around 13.5mm (0.5314961 inch), down from around 20.7mm (0.8149606 inch). The leaker also shared a mockup image to demonstrate what that would look like.

An earlier report from The Information claimed the iPhone 18 Pro lineup will feature under-screen Face ID. As a result, the publication said the devices would have only a hole-punch front camera in the top-left corner of the screen, rather than the current pill-shaped cutout for the front camera and Face ID sensors.

However, recent reports have claimed that the flood illuminator is the only Face ID component that is likely to be moved to under the display, located in the top-left area of the screen. Meanwhile, the dot projector and infrared camera, will remain centered and housed within a reduced, Dynamic Island, alongside the unmoved selfie camera.

Display industry analyst Ross Young, who has a very good track record for things like this, claims the Dynamic Island will last through at least 2027.

“Ice Universe” has a somewhat accurate track record for iPhone rumors in the past, although they do not have a perfect track record, so we’ll have to wait and see until Apple unveil the iPhone 18 Pro models, likely in September.
