Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, expected to be unveiled in September, “won’t be a big update,” says Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.
Gurman’s comments come in the latest edition of his weekly “Power On‘ newsletter. Gurman claims the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models will only “represent minor tweaks from last year’s iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max.” He compared the upgrade to past “S” upgrades for some previous iPhones. “S” upgrades usually included only minor updates from the previous-generation iPhone.
While the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models won’t be “the star of Apple’s iPhone launch this fall,” with that honor being reserved for the company’s first foldable iPhone, the will likely be important internal upgrades made to the new Pro handsets. Rumors indicate the new Pros will be powered by the A20 chip, as well as an internally-developed C2 mode.
