Upgrade Your Apple Home Architecture Today, For Tomorrow It Dies

Today, Monday, February 9, 2026 is the very last day you can upgrade your Apple Home setup before the February 10, 2026 (TOMORROW!) deadline, Apple has sent out multiple emails to users, warning that support is about to end for the old version. Users that don’t update by then could have their access to the entire Home platform blocked:

Apple had sent out an email in mid-January (and another one last week) warning that the deadline was on the way. Apple says users who do not upgrade will lose their access to their smart home within the Home app, accessories and automations might not work as expected, and they will not receive important security fixes and performance improvements. Updating to the new version of Apple Home can also enable new features, such as guest access, support for robot vacuum cleaners, Activity History, and more.

The new version of Home requires a minimum of iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, macOS 13.1, tvOS 16.2, and watchOS 9.2 to be installed on users’ devices.

Users can update to the new version of Apple Home by doing the following:

1. Open the Home app on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Tap the More button (that’s the three dots seen in the top right-hand corner of the screen.)
3. Choose Home Settings (Users that manage multiple homes will be required to choose one first).
4. Tap Software Update.
5. Tap Update Now, then follow the prompts.

Please note that all the homes you manage will be updated simultaneously.

If you see “This home and all accessories are up to date” shown in Software Update, then you’re already on the current version and don’t need to do anything.
