Apple has shared a short video promoting Apple’s being the new US home of Formula One racing. The new video features company CEO Tim Cook as he makes a “Pit Stop at Apple Park.”
Pit stops look different at Apple Park.
Rain or shine, Max Verstappen is always race-ready. Watch every lap all season long on Apple TV, the new U.S. home of F1.
The clip, which is set on the pathways of the Apple Park campus, shows Cook driving a small golf cart-like buggy along the pathway before pulling up beside Dutch racing driver Max Verstappen. A Formula 1 pit stop then takes place, as Cook’s buggy stops at a makeshift pit area labeled “Tim Box Box,” which is a reference to the phrase used by F1 teams to call drivers into the pits over the radio.
The pit crew then performs a rapid tire-change sequence, paying tribute to the high-speed pitstops performed by real Formula 1 pit crews. Once the brief stop is completed, Cook rockets away from the pit box, seemingly surprised by the performance of his buggy.
The humorous promo is merely a small part of Apple’s wider promotional push around its new Formula 1 broadcasting partnership.
For the next five years, Apple TV will be the US streaming home for all Formula 1 races. The season took the green flag last weekend with the Australian Grand Prix, on March 7. Apple TV subscribers in the United States can watch the entire season with 4K video, Dolby Vision, and multiple onboard camera feeds.
