Apple has temporarily closed its retail store at the Grand Central Terminal in New York, but the reason behind the closure is currently a mystery. The location was shuttered for both yesterday and today.
X user Parker Ortolani shared several photos of Apple’s retail space on the Main Concourse’s East Balcony, showing the location covered by temporary walls and curtains. The photos show temporary lighting and audio equipment set up, and a video shared on social media shows Apple was recording some sort of content.
What Apple is up to is anyone’s guess, although with Apple’s 50th anniversary celebration coming up, there are several possibilities.
Apple Grand Central reopens this Saturday, March 14, at 10 a.m. local time.
Apple is also reportedly planning to temporarily shutter its iconic Fifth Avenue store in New York on Monday, March 23, from midnight until 3 a.m. local time. As with the Grand Central Terminal closure, the reason for this closure is also unknown. Apple has previously closed it for maintenance on the store’s glass cube entrance.
