iPad 12 With Apple Intelligence MIA in This Week’s Apple Device Announcements

This week, Apple unveiled several new devices in the first half of the week, and the Cupertino company was widely-expected to debut the iPhone 17e, MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs, updated entry-level iPad and iPad Air models, and a lower-cost MacBook powered by an iPhone chip.

Apple did unveil most of the expected new products, and even slipped in a couple of unexpected announcements, in the form of an updated Studio Display and a higher-end Studio Display XDR.

Of the list from the first paragraph, Apple failed to unveil one expected device, the updated entry-level iPad 12, with Apple Intelligence. The device had been expected to be powered by either an A18 chip or an A19 chip, providing support for Apple Intelligence. This week’s lack of an iPad 12 unveiling leaves the entry-level iPad as the only model in the iPad lineup that doesn’t boast the Apple Intelligence support offered by the iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro.

The internal upgrade was the only expected change in the iPad 12, meaning it would have the same overall design as the current iPad.

Apple last updated the entry-level iPad in March 2025, when it announced the iPad 11 with an A16 chip. U.S. pricing starts at $349.
