Base Mac Mini Model Currently Sold Out In Apple Online Store

At the time of this writing, Apple’s base model Mac mini is showing as “Currently Unavailable” from the Apple Online Store, either via delivery or for spot checks of in-store pickup (although some stores may have some available). The base model of the Mac mini is powered by the M4 chip, has 256GB of SSD storage, and 16GB of RAM.

Models with upgraded storage are still shown as in stock, as are Mac mini models powered by the M4 Pro chip. While 24GB of RAM models are also still available, some models that are equipped with 32GB RAM or higher are out of stock.

While an Apple device shows up as out of stock, it often means a refresh of the device is on the way. However, there may be other reasons behind the Mac mini being “currently unavailable” in the Apple online retail store. The Mac mini has proven to be popular with those who want to use it to run local AI models. So, the shortage could be due to high demand.

There is also currently a global RAM shortage (AI is again the culprit), which has led to increased prices for memory. We’ve seen the memory shortages previously cause some higher tier ‌Mac mini‌ and Mac Studio models to show as out of stock. The 512GB ‌Mac Studio‌ was removed from the online store entirely earlier this year.

While Apple is reported to be working on M5 and M5 Pro versions of the ‌Mac mini‌ for 2026, the new mini’s debut may be delayed until later in the year due to the aforementioned RAM supply shortages and accompanying costs.
