iOS 27 Camera App to Get Siri-based Nutrition Label Scanning Mode

iOS 27 Camera App to Get Siri-based Nutrition Label Scanning Mode

Apple has plans to add more Apple Intelligence and Siri-related features into select apps in iOS 27, reports Bloomberg. One of the apps to receive some AI-related update love is the Camera app, which will offer a dedicated ‌Siri‌ mode that will be available alongside the existing Photo, Video, Portrait, and Panorama modes. In Siri mode, users will be able to use the Camera app shutter button, which will feature the ‌Apple Intelligence‌ logo, to use Visual Intelligence features.

Visual Intelligence‌ is also being updated with new features. Users will be able to scan a nutrition label on food items to log the dietary information, plus users will be able to use it to add contact details for someone directly to the Contacts app.

As first reported by MacRumors earlier this month, other Visual Intelligence features have been discovered in Apple’s code, including:

  • The ability to scan nutrition labels on food packaging for calorie and macronutrient tracking in the Health app.
  • Visual Intelligence‌ will allow users to scan phone numbers and addresses on business cards and other print media and directly add the information to the Contacts app.
  • The Wallet app will use ‌Visual Intelligence‌ to capture information from physical event tickets and membership cards, allowing it to generate digital versions.

Apple will preview ‌iOS 27‌ at the Worldwide Developers Conference Keynote Address, scheduled for June 8, 2026.
