Google has announced that it will release its first “intelligent eyewear” product this fall. The product is the result of a team effort with Samsung and eyewear manufacturers Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.
Today at Google I/O 2026, we shared more about intelligent eyewear: glasses that deliver help in the moment without taking you out of it. There will be two types of intelligent eyewear: audio glasses that offer spoken help in your ear, and display glasses that show you the information you need, right when you need it. Both let you stay hands-free and heads up, and get you help from Gemini just by asking.
The glasses will be powered by Android XR, Google’s platform for smart glasses and AR/VR headsets. The new eyewear will boast cameras, speakers, and microphones, but no display in the lenses.
Google has announced plans to launch glasses with a small display in the lens to relay information from Gemini, but that product is not coming until later.
Google previewed two of the designs to be provided by Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. However, there will be other options available, with the two companies offering “full collections” when the eyewear launches.
The glasses support Gemini AI. Users will be able to say “Hey Google” or tap the side of the frame to bring up Gemini.
Google says the AI is capable of the following:
Google says the glasses will be compatible with iPhones, as well as Android smartphones.
While Apple is reportedly working on its own AI smart glasses, the eyewear isn’t expected to debut until 2027 or later.
