Why You Should Update: The iOS 26.5 Update Plugs Over 50 Security Holes, While macOS Tahoe 26.5 Fixes 70 Security Flaws

The iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 updates Apple released on Monday fixes over 50 security vulnerabilities, meaning iPhone and iPad users who haven’t already updated their devices should do so as soon as possible.

While there were no known actively exploited bugs that were fixed, Apple’s security support document does provide information about the bugs that bad actors could exploit on devices that have not yet been updated.

As noted by MacRumors, listed vulnerabilities include multiple image vulnerabilities, kernel issues, and several bugs related to Shortcuts, Spotlight, and screenshots. The update also fixes ten WebKit vulnerabilities that could allow access to sensitive data or cause device crashing.

Apple also on Monday released other updates that include multiple security fixes. For iPhone and iPad users unable to install iOS 26, Apple released iOS 18.7.9, iPadOS 18.7.9, iPadOS 17.7.11, iOS 16.7.16, iPadOS 16.7.16, iOS 15.8.8, and iPadOS 15.8.8.

There are almost 70 security updates included in macOS Tahoe 26.5, so be sure to also update your Mac software. macOS Sonoma 14.8.7 and macOS Sequoia 15.7.7 are also available for those with Mac that are unable to run ‌macOS Tahoe‌.
