Apple $1.4 Trillion in App Store Sales in 2025, More Than 90% of Those Were Commission-Free

Apple today unveiled a new study by economists at Analysis Group, outlining four key App Store stats for 2025:

  • The App Store ecosystem facilitated a record $1.4 trillion in total billings and sales
  • Apple received no commissions on over 90% of the transactions
  • Apps featuring consumer-facing AI quadrupled growth in billings
  • The App Store ecosystem is nearly 3x the size it was in 2019

“Developers are the heartbeat of the App Store, and this year’s incredible milestone is a testament to their boundless creativity,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We are deeply committed to providing developers with the tools, technologies, and trusted platforms they need to build for the future. Together, developers are creating apps that enrich the lives of users around the world.”

The App Store saw over 850 million average weekly visitors from 175 countries and regions, with users increasingly relying on apps to purchase groceries, boost productivity, maintain their health and fitness, and stay connected with friends and family.

Apple says AI is becoming an increasingly integral part of how apps are experienced. New and existing apps across a wide range of categories are evolving to offer richer features and capabilities to users.

The report comes just days ahead of Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference, which will kickoff on Monday, June 8. There, Apple will offer a first look at new features, APIs, and technologies that developers will soon have access to. Developers and students will also have access to more than 100 new video sessions about tools, technologies, and design; take part in Group Labs; and join conversations on the Apple Developer Forums. All WWDC content will be available on the Apple Developer appwebsite, and YouTube channel. Developers can also follow the conference worldwide on LinkedInWeChat, and bilibili.
