Apple on Monday announced several new features and updates coming to Apple Music in iOS 27. The new features include a refreshed artist page, updated album pages, and more.
First off, Apple Music will have deeper integration with the all-new Siri AI in iOS 27, allowing users to ask Siri about an artist and then follow up with natural commands such as “play one of her new singles,” without breaking the flow.
The newly refreshed artist page now features a prominent shuffle play button, a new artist name display, and other layout adjustments. Apple also claimed album pages received an update, although no visible changes are visible in the first iOS 27 developer beta seed.
Apple Music’s AI-powered AutoMix feature that blends songs using matching key and tempo, has also been upgraded, with improved the underlying algorithms to generate new transition types, making for more seamless blends between tracks. The standard Crossfade option is still available. AutoMix will also be available on Apple Music in tvOS and on HomePod.
Lyrics Translation is adding support for for seven new language pairings: English to French, English to German, English to Italian, English to Korean, English to Spanish, French to English, and Japanese to English. Apple says the feature uses machine learning to translate the lyrics, along with fine-tuning from language experts, and ensures that the true emotion, cultural nuance, and original lyrical intent of every song is preserved.
Lyrics Pronunciation, which enables users to sing along when lyrics are in another language, gets five new pairings, including Arabic to Romanized Arabic, English to Hangul, English to Katakana, Japanese to Hangul, and Mandarin Chinese (simplified) to Katakana.
Hi-Res Lossless Audio comes to tvOS in iOS 27, in addition to standard Lossless Audio. Subscribers with compatible external speaker outputs will be able to enjoy their favorite songs in the highest audio quality and experience studio-quality sound directly through their Apple TV 4K.
Apple says iOS 27 improves the “reliability of Apple Music streaming.” The speed at which the Now Playing view loads has been improved, as well as the time it takes for streaming playback to begin from a fresh launch Users can now swipe away the Now Playing widget on the Lock Screen to dismiss it.
