Apple TV Premieres New Series Remake of Classic Film Thriller Cape Fear

A new remake of the classic film thriller Cape Fear premieres today on Apple TV. The limited series adaptation stars Amy Adams, Javier Bardem and Patrick Wilson.

From executive producers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. When convicted murderer Max Cady is released from prison, he begins infiltrating the family of the married attorneys who helped put him behind bars.

The limited series is inspired by the 1991 psychological film of the same name, which was directed by Scorsese and starred Robert De Niro, Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange, Joe Don Baker, and Juliette Lewis. That film was a remake of a 1962 film that starred Robert Mitchum, Polly Bergen and features Lori Martin, Martin Balsam, Jack Kruschen, Telly Savalas, and Barrie Chase.

The new version of Cape Fear premieres on Apple TV today, June 4, with the first two episodes available to watch right now. A new episode will drop each week on the streaming service, with the finale streaming on July 31st.

Critical reviews for the series have been generally positive, especially Javier Bardem’s portrayal of the unhinged Max. It currently holds a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
