iOS 28 Will Be a ‘Far More Significant’ Release Than iOS 27, Says Journalist

We’re about to see the unveiling of iOS 27, so it isn’t too soon to post about iOS 28, right? Right? Well, we’re doing it anyway! In his Power On newsletter on Sunday, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that iOS 28 will be “far more significant” release than iOS 27.

“Next year’s ’28’ releases are already shaping up to be far more significant than the ’27’ updates,” wrote Gurman, without going into details.

iOS 28 is codenamed “Bell,” while macOS 28 is “Poppy,” he said.

iOS 27 and macOS 27 both are expected to focus on actually bringing the features Apple promised in iOS 18 Apple promised back in 2024, including a revamped, more personalized version of Siri and other Apple Intelligence-powered features.

iOS 27 is also expected to allow users to have natural “back-and-forth” conversations with Siri, both in spoken or text conversations, and a “Search or Ask” feature is expected to debut in the Dynamic Island.

Other than those features, iOS 27 has been compared to Mac OS X Snow Leopard, which sacrificed big new features in favor of fixing bugs and overall stability improvements.
