X Goes Down Early Monday – Thousands of Users Report Outage

The X social media platform went down for numerous users on Monday morning, with nearly 36,000 users reporting issues in accessing the popular microblogging service.

Digital outage tracking website DownDetector shows reports of issues with X began rolling in around 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time, with only a few hundred users reporting issues. By  9:30 a.m. Easter, over 35,000 users were reporting problems with the site. That number quickly fell in the next hour or so, with the website showing just a few hundred reports at the time of this article.

One user commented on the DownDetector page that “posts aren’t loading right now,” while another user added, “comments aren’t loading.” Others joked about the outage, with one user writing, “It’s the Monday of all Mondays.”

According to DownDetector, X’s mobile app had the most reported problems (45%), followed by its feed/timeline (30%) and its website (15%).

X has yet to explain what was behind the outages.

X users weren’t alone in having issues with their favorite online services, as more than 1,800 Microsoft Teams users reporting issues around 10 a.m., and over 3,000 Zoom users reporting issues around the same time.

As noted by MSN,  Cloudflare, a web infrastructure service used by many websites and apps, said it’s investigating a “fiber cut” that appears to be causing problems for several users.

“Traffic engineering efforts have successfully mitigated the majority of congestion and packet drops,” an update on Cloudflare’s status page now says.

It is uncertain if the Cloudflare issued were connected to the other outages.
