You may be curious as to how much Apple is paying for each of those nifty folding display panels it needs for the new iPhone Duo. Well, if Chinese leaker Instant Digital is correct, it aint cheap.
The leaker claims Apple has signed a three-year exclusive folding display supply agreement with Samsung that will see Apple pay around $250 per display panel, making it one of the pricier components used in manufacturing the foldable device.

Samsung Display has signed a three-year exclusive supply agreement with Apple to supply foldable screen panels for the iPhone Duo and subsequent models.
Apple will pay approximately $250 per panel, making it one of the most expensive core components in the entire device.
The iPhone Duo is the first device to be sold to use Samsung’s M16 OLED material set, which is designed to offer improvements in brightness, color performance, lifespan, and power efficiency over previous generations.
IMAX is a a theater chain that uses a proprietary system of high-resolution cameras, film formats, film projectors, and cinemas traditionally known for having steep stadium seating and huge freaking screens with a tall aspect ratio. It turns out that the new iPhone Duo’s foldable screen has nearly the same aspect ratio as a traditional IMAX screen, just in a much smaller size.
Apple’s uses a 1:1.4 aspect ratio on the iPhone Duo’s inner and outer displays. That ratio happens to be very close to the classic “full-frame” IMAX 1.43:1 aspect ratio, which comes from the geometry of the company’s proprietary 15-perforation/70mm film system.
IMAX’s official X account, responding to a post from an X user that wondered if we’ll see more 1:14.1 content because of the iPhone Duo, said, “Love this for them,” but added, “Still not watching movies on a phone…”
