MacRumors forums member “pdfu” has done a deep dive on both operating systems and has found four new features that could soon debut on the new Watches:

  • New “Readiness” app: An all-new separate Watch app called “Readiness,” in the code. The new app is separate from the existing Vitals app. The ‌watchOS 27‌ launcher reportedly includes it in the Apple Watch default Home Screen layout immediately after the Workout app. The iOS 27 Watch companion app also references the same app in its logic for arranging apps on the ‌Home Screen‌.
  • Richer strength workouts: An expanded health infrastructure will be able to store individual sets, repetition counts, weight, equipment, body side, and duration of workouts.
  • New optical-sensing system: A new sensor family called “Sunstone4p0” in the code could point to revised heart-sensing hardware on an upcoming Apple Watch.
  • 128GB storage: A NAND storage profile tied to the T8320 chip for the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 indicates that both Watches could offer 128GB of storage, doubling the 64GB on previous models.
