Apple is already preparing to release a minor update to iOS 27, even though it was just released last week. Apple is already testing a follow-up iOS 27.0.1 update for iPhones, according to MacRumors, which has seen evidence of the new update in its website logs.
It isn’t unusual for an update to be made available soon after the release of a new iPhone or other Apple device, as software bugs are discovered once a new device gets into the hands of millions of users around the globe. Apple on Wednesday released watchOS 27.0.1 to fix an unexpected restart issue with the recently-released Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4.
So far, we’ve heard news of some iPhone 18 Pro users experiencing issues with Face ID. According to a Reddit post spotted by 9to5Mac, Face ID authentication for specific actions such as unlocking a locked app sometimes fails to work on the iPhone 18 Pro models, and the device then freezes and eventually reboots to the lock screen.
Mashable reports that iPhone 18 Pro users in South Korea, the United States, and China have reported recurring forced device restarts and low-level panic-full diagnostic logs, with system crashes frequently triggered during routine Face ID biometric scans and everyday Apple Pay transactions.
