Apple debuts its new iPhone 18 Pro models next week, and while everyone expects the new iPhones to cost more, no one is really sure just how much. Until now, that is. Research firm TrendForce has estimated the prices of the devices based on the latest hardware costs.
Apple is likely to raise iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max prices by around 10-20% compared to last year’s Pro models, according to the firm.
TrendForce’s price estimates compared to last year’s models are as follows. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to boast a starting price of $1,249 to $1,299, $150 to $200 more than the iPhone 17 Pro’s base price of $1,099, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max will likely start at $1,349 to $1,399, a hike of $150 to $200 more than the iPhone 17 Pro’s $1,199 starting price.
TrendForce expects prices for Apple’s first foldable iPhone (rumored to be called “iPhone Ultra”) to start anywhere between $2,099-$2,299, with the largest storage option potentially going for more than $3,000.
As for the regular iPhone 18 model, which is not expected to debut until spring 2027, TrendForce expects the same general 10-20% price increase to apply to that device as well.
The main reason for the higher prices is the cost of memory. As memory manufacturers have focused on memory for AI companies and their memory hungry server farms, Trendforce says the cost of a 256GB memory chip has risen nearly 400% year-on-year. Meanwhile, a separate analysis puts the overall bill of materials (BOM) for a 256GB iPhone 18 Pro model at around 38% more over the same period. Apple is not expected to pass the full costs all of the higher prices on to customers, but instead is expected to absorb some of that increase via lower margins.
Apple will unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max and their real prices during Apple’s “Surprise and shine” event on Wednesday, September 9 and Mactrast will cover all of the action.
