Today is the original iPod’s 25th birthday, and Apple Music on the web has a hidden easter egg that appears when you load a page that doesn’t exist. First reported by MacRumors, if you visit a page that doesn’t exist on the Apple Music site, such as: https://music.apple.com/mactrast, you get a message that says: “Page Not Found,” says Apple. “Give this a spin instead.”
The easter egg is only visible in a web browser and is not available in the Apple Music app. To avoid being redirected to the Apple Music app, hold down the Command key when clicking on the link on a Mac, or press and hold on the link and tap “Open” on the iPhone or iPad.
You can actually navigate the first-generation iPod using the click wheel and you can even listen to 90-second previews of songs from artists such as Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Coldplay, Daft Punk, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Foo Fighters, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, U2 (yes, they forced another U2 song onto an iPad), and others.
An extra easter egg hidden in the iPod itself is reveals if you go to “Settings” -> “About” on the iPod and click and hold on the click wheel’s center button. Eventually, you’ll be allowed to play the classic game Breakout on the screen. (Apple co-founders Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs basically created the Breakout arcade game while Jobs worked at Atari in the 1970s.)
Yes, you can even play Breakout on the iPod on the Apple Music 404 webpage.
Settings > About > Hold the centre button until the game appears
