Here’s a Look at What Apple & LG Home Accessories Will Look Like

As we reported earlier today, Apple is said to be working with South Korean firm LG Electronics Inc. to develop thermostats, doorbells, cameras, and other accessories compatible with Apple’s smart home platform.

Now, the first images of what could be the fruits of that partnership have surfaced. The images show simple designs of a smart deadbolt, thermostat, and temperature sensor. Leaker account @pdfu on X posted a number of images and animations for smart home devices. It claims the three posts are for the LG smart home devices.

LG Smart Deadbolt Lock

The first is the LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, shown in two parts. The post says the front keypad rotates to open, with a swivel pin used to limit the rotation. Settings are included for Touchpad Light Ring, Door Left Audio Alarm, and Lock Sound Volume. It supports automatic unlocking, tap to unlock, emergency power and master codes. The lock fits 2.375 in (60.3 mm) and 2.75 in (69.9 mm) brackets, and comes with 2 mechanical keys.

LG Smart Thermostat

The LG Smart Thermostat is a circular device with a large central display showing the temperature. On the edges are options to control the temperature level. Settings for Far Sight Display, Humidity Display, Brightness, and Language are included.

LG Temperature Sensor

The LG Temperature Sensor is said to be able to detect both the temperature and humidity of a room. Its boasts a replaceable battery, and will alert you when it needs to be changed. The sensor has a magnetic back to attach to metal surfaces. Comes with a metal plate with adhesive for attaching to other surfaces.

Even though Apple is helping to develop the accessories, the devices in question will be manufactured and sold under the LG brand. Such partnerships allows Apple to quickly expand its smart home hub ecosystem without being forced to deal with producing and supporting a wide range of accessories. Apple has worked with LG several times over the years, even offering LG’s 4K and 5K UltraFine monitors for use with the Mac before it began offering its own self-produced displays.

While Apple is expected to debut its newhome hub on October 13, the LG accessories won’t be ready to launch for a few months.
