Jason Sudeikis Wants ‘Ted Lasso’ to Continue and He Assumes Apple TV Does Too

“Ted Lasso” star and co-creator Jason Sudeikis told podcaster Sam Frogoso that while he doesn’t know if the show will continue for a fifth season, he certainly wants it to, and he assumes Apple TV also does.

There were three years between the third and fourth seasons of “Ted Lasso,” and now with that fourth seson currently streaming, Sudeikis is ready to get started on a fifth season.

Speaking on the podcast “Talk Easy with Sam Frogoso,” Sudeikis said that the idea of reviving the show at all was to do more than one new run. “I mean, that was the endeavor of going back into it,” he said, “just sort of like, oh, I think there’s more in there.”

“I would like to [do more], yeah, I think it would be fun,” he said. “I just don’t know. We haven’t started a writers’ room or anything like that.”

When asked if Apple would do additional seasons for as\ long as he wanted to keep doing it, Sudeikis said “I would assume so.”

Apple TV tends to commission two seasons at a time., meaning odds re good we’ll see a fifthe season of “Lasso.” Streamers generally only cancel a show rather than take up the option for the next run when a show fails to perform. While we don’t have any official viewing fogures, “Ted Lasso” season four is estimated to have attracted nearly 300 million US viewing minutes in its first two days.

Apple TV needs to decide whether a fifth season is worth it in the scheme of things, as there have been reports of the fourth season’s production having been problematic.

AppleInsider reported in July 2026 that production ran a month behind schedule. It was also reported that there were “come to Jesus” Zoom calls between the production team and Apple TV. a “come to Jesus” meeting is generally defined as where one undergoes a difficult but positive and powerful realization or change in character or behavior.

In July, Sudeikis said that he intended to get a writers’ room together for a fifth and perhaps sixth season by August, although that doesn’t seem to have taken place.
